Wire EDM
About Us
What is Wire EDM?
Wire EDM is a specialized machining method that utilizes electrical discharge to precisely cut conductive materials with exceptional precision. In this process, a thin, electrically charged wire is guided along a programmed path, eroding the workpiece material through a series of controlled electrical discharges. Wire EDM is particularly well-suited for producing intricate parts with tight tolerances and delicate features.
How Does Wire EDM Work?
Our advanced Wire EDM machines use a thin wire, typically made of brass or copper, as an electrode. The wire is fed through the workpiece while submerged in deionized water, which acts as a dielectric fluid and facilitates the electrical discharge process. As the wire approaches the workpiece, a series of rapid electrical pulses are applied, creating sparks that vaporize small portions of the material. This precise erosion continues until the desired shape is achieved, resulting in a finished part with exceptional accuracy and surface finish.

Advantages of Wire EDM
High Precision
Wire EDM offers micron-level precision, allowing for the production of intricate and complex geometries with tight tolerances.
Fine Surface Finish
Wire EDM produces parts with smooth surface finishes, reducing the need for secondary finishing operations and enhancing overall part quality.
Versatility
Wire EDM can cut a wide range of conductive materials, including metals such as steel, aluminum, titanium, and alloys, as well as carbide and exotic materials.
Minimal Material Distortion
Since Wire EDM is a non-contact machining process, there is no mechanical force applied to the workpiece, minimizing the risk of distortion or stress.
